Basic Policy on Customer Harassment

At the same time, we believe that ensuring a safe and secure working environment in which our employees (including officers, permanent employees, contract employees, part-time and temporary staff, and dispatched workers) can fully demonstrate their abilities is an important responsibility of the Company.

We listen sincerely to the opinions and requests we receive from our customers and strive to respond in good faith. However, in the case of demands or conduct that exceed the bounds of what is socially acceptable (customer harassment), the Company will respond firmly and appropriately as an organization in order to protect the dignity and personal integrity of our employees.

Definition of Customer Harassment
In accordance with the guidelines issued by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare concerning the measures employers should take regarding problems arising from the conduct of customers and others in the workplace, the Company defines customer harassment as any demand or conduct by a customer, business partner, or other related party that exceeds the socially acceptable range in light of the nature of the employee's duties and other circumstances, and that thereby harms the employee's working environment.

Examples of such conduct include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Abusive language, insults, remarks that deny a person's character, threats, intimidation, coercion, or other forms of psychological aggression

  • Assault, bodily harm, damage to property, or other physical aggression against persons or property

  • Defamation, damage to reputation or credibility, or invasion of privacy on social media or elsewhere on the internet

  • Unreasonable demands (including demands for services free of charge, unjustified monetary demands, excessive demands for price reductions, demands to kneel and bow in apology (dogeza), or demands for excessive apologies)

  • Sexual remarks or demands

  • Obstruction of business through prolonged detention of staff or persistent telephone calls, emails, or visits

  • Persistent conduct such as repeatedly making the same demand or unreasonably demanding a change of the staff member in charge

  • Covert photography or recording, or photographing or recording without permission

This policy applies to all forms of communication, including in person, by telephone, by email, by post, via social media, and by any other means.

Our Response

The Company will respond to customer harassment firmly and appropriately as an organization, and will never leave any employee to face it alone.

When we receive a consultation or report, we will protect the privacy of the person concerned and will not subject them to any disadvantageous treatment for having raised the matter.

Where malicious conduct or suspected criminal activity is involved, the Company will cooperate with the police, legal counsel, and other external specialist bodies as necessary, and will take appropriate action, including legal measures.

The Company will continue to strengthen its systems for preventing customer harassment, enhance its consultation framework, and promote education and awareness on an ongoing basis.an ongoing basis.
