On Sunday, January 26th, Newport participated in the 1st Shibuya Environmental Symposium for the Youth Climate Change Conference local residents.
The Youth Climate Change Conference is held in Shibuya Ward, with this year's theme being "How to Spread CO2 Reduction in Offices Throughout the Ward?" Participants were divided into three teams and visited GMO Internet Inc., Marui Shibuya Store and Newport, all of which have won the Shibuya Sustainable Award. They learned about the eco-friendly initiatives implemented by all three companies. Using this knowledge, they presented ideas that they hope many other companies will also implement.
The "Hamburg" team, which visited Newport, proposed the development of an "Eco Activity Contest App for Offices," inspired by Newport's EMS activities.
Here are some comments from Newport staff who participated in the 1st Shibuya Environmental Symposium:

At Newport, we hold EMS meetings four times a year, so I've seen many presentations before, but the proposals and slide materials were very easy to understand this time.
Additionally, regarding the introduction of the app proposed based on Newport's EMP activities, I was impressed by how the team members considered various aspects, including how it could boost staff motivation.
The proposal for an eco-app for individuals was particularly impressive. If implemented, it would make eco-activities more personal and a part of daily life, expanding the circle of individual eco-activities and contributing to solving environmental issues. It was a wonderful proposal that envisions a future where this can be achieved.

Furthermore, on Wednesday, February 5th, the 2nd Shibuya Environmental Symposium for small and medium-sized enterprises in Shibuya Ward will be held, at which we will have the opportunity to explain Newport's environmental activities. We will report on this event on our blog at a later date.
